The Author

Pete Olsen is a recent law graduate from The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law.  He was President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Association, served on the board of OutLaws (Moritz’s LGBT student organization), and was an active member of the Public Interest Law Foundation.

Following his first year at Moritz, Pete was a Judicial Extern for Justice Maureen O’Connor (now Chief Justice) of The Ohio Supreme Court.  Following his second year, he was a Legal Intern at DSW Inc. (Designer Shoe Warehouse).  Additionally, during his years at Moritz, Pete has volunteered over 150 hours at the Kaleidoscope Youth Center, the only after-school safe-haven specifically for LGBTQ youth in Central Ohio.

Pete earned his Bachelor’s of Arts in Business Administration, specializing in Marketing, graduating magna cum laude from California State University, Long Beach.  During his junior and senior years at CSULB, he contributed regularly to the sports section of the school’s student published newspaper, Union Weekly.  Also, during his final year at CSULB, he was an intern at the acclaimed sports agency, Leigh Steinberg Sports & Entertainment.

More personally, Pete grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska, and is the 6th of 8 children.  He enjoys participating in almost any sport and can frequently be found playing pickup basketball or soccer at the OSU gyms.  He is an avid fan of watching sports, especially NFL football and the San Francisco 49ers, any Buckeyes’ athletics, and CSULB basketball.  Music also has a special place in his heart as he plays multiple instruments, has been in rock bands, been a radio and bar DJ, and was an intern at the punk rock record label Nitro Records.
